Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) is an Indian Hindi-language science fiction romantic comedy that stars Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, the film is written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah, who are making their directorial debuts.

From October 2022 to April 2023, the main shooting was conducted. On February 9, 2024, the movie was released in theaters to acclaim from critics. It went on to become the sixth-highest-earning Indian movie of 2024.

Storyline:

Shahid Kapoor’s character Aryan Agnihotri is a bright robotics engineer who follows up his aunt Urmila Shukla’s (Dimple Kapadia) footsteps by working for her company, E-Robotics. She invites him to travel to the USA, where he encounters Kriti Sanon’s character, SIFRA (Super Intelligent Female Robot Automation) who seems and acts like a human, but he is unaware of this fact. After falling in love, he finds out that she is a robot that his aunt is using to see if people can distinguish SIFRA from themselves.

Heartbroken, he goes back to India and accepts an arranged marriage. But after realizing how much he loved SIFRA, he decides to leave the engagement ceremony secretly. His grandfather discovers this and encourages him to follow his feelings, telling him he will take care of the family in absence of him. In order to welcome SIFRA to his family, Aryan calls his aunt and requests that she take her to India for additional “testing” against a traditional Indian household. She accepts and sends her to India, where Aryan presents her to his family as his girlfriend, creating several hilarious situations.

Unaware of the fact that she is a robot, Aryan’s family approves their marriage. She installs a malicious update before their wedding, corrupting her memory and leaving her completely forgetful. When Aryan calls his aunt for assistance, she gives him a memory backup, which Aryan installs and helps her restore her memory. After discovering the truth, Urmila—who had no idea that Aryan was planning to marry her—is against him and tells him to give her back because she is an intellectual property of her company. After a dramatic conversation, he convinces his aunt, who permits him to keep her.

While SIFRA is charging herself, there is a blackout, which makes her malfunction. Her speech becomes garbled and her actions start to jerk as she carries out previously given instructions that were revoked, such as “setting Delhi on fire.” Seeing the devastation she has caused, Heartbroken Aryan had no option but to stop her. He does this by piercing her face with a sword, which exposes the inner workings of her and makes him realize that, despite how she looks as same as human, she can not be a real human ever.

Later on, Urmila introduces a number of robots, one of which being SIFRA 2.0. Aryan is no longer the new SIFRA’s administrator, and she has had her memory and settings formatted. A new intern named Jiah (Jhanvi Kapoor) approaches Aryan and asks for guidance on finding true love. The new SIFRA begins to get jealous of their bonding, and Aryan notices her feelings and smiles.

Production:

Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon signed on to appear in Dinesh Vijan’s upcoming robot romantic comedy in August 2022. October 2022 marked the start of production, which terminated in April 2023. In January 2024, the title of the movie, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, was made public.

Shaitaan (2024) is a supernatural horror movie in Hindi that was produced by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and Panorama Studios. It was directed by Vikas Bahl. Starring in the movie are Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Anngad Raaj, Janki Bodiwala and Jyothika. After releasing her first movie, Doli Saja Ke Rakhna, in 1998, Jyothika is now in her second Hindi film. Amit Trivedi created the soundtrack, and Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti and Sandeep Francis handled the shooting and editing.

The movie’s official announcement took place in May 2023, and the title was confirmed in January 2024. Principal photography was shot in India and London between June 2023 and September 2023. It is a remake of the Gujarati film Vash of 2023.

Development

The film, which is a remake of the Gujarati horror movie Vash (2023), was first revealed in May 2023. A trailer with the film’s Shaitaan title was released in January 2024. Janki Bodiwala, who plays the same role in the movie as in the original version, Ajay Devgan and R. Madhvan along with Jyothika, Anngad Raaj  were the cast for the main roles. With this movie, Madhavan and Jyothika worked together for the first time since Priyamaana Thozhi (2003) and Dumm Dumm Dumm (2001). Jyothika makes her 24 years later comeback to Bollywood with this movie as well.

12th Fail is an Indian Hindi language film which was released in 2023, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is the director, producer, and writer of this biographical drama film. It is based on Anurag Pathak’s 2019 nonfiction book of the same name, which tells the story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who rose from abject poverty. Development

The movie, based on Anurag Pathak‘s novel Twelfth Fail, was announced by director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in November 2022. The films draws inspiration from the true stories of IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi.

Casting

Actor Vikrant Massey was set to portray the lead, according to Chopra’s announcement in November 2022, which marks their first working together. Medha Shankar was assigned with the role of Shraddha Joshi. Vikas Divyakirti, the coach of UPSC, was chosen to portray himself in the film. Numerous real UPSC aspirants were assigned with different roles. Massey claimed that it gave the movie more “authenticity”. In the movie, Joshi and Sharma both had brief cameos.

Most of the film was filmed in Mumbai, Delhi, Chambal, Agra, and Mussoorie. A major part of the movie was filmed in Rajendra Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar, two popular destinations for students aspiring for government jobs. December 2022 marked the end of the filming.

On August 10, 2023, the teaser for 12th Fail was released, then on October 3, 2023, the trailer. On October 27, 2023, the Hindi and Kannada versions of the movie were released in theaters. Following the movie’s success in Hindi, the producers declared that it would be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu and was released on November 3.

OTT and Television

On December 29, 2023, the movie became available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. On February 29, 2024, it premiered on TV on Sony Max. It premiered as a simulcast on March 10, 2024, over several Sony Network Channels, including Sony Max 2, Sony SAB, and Sony PAL.

The critics praised 12th Fail. It has a 9.0/10 IMDB rating given by 109k raters. 90% of the reviews from 10 critics on the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes are positive and have an average rating of 6.8/10.

With characters that make you feel that they’ve wandered off the street.” stated Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express, rating the movie three stars out of five. “It’s not just the main cast, but the numbers of the young who gather in the hot spots rife with coaching centers, such as North Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar: all these multitudes, crowding into tiny rooms, far away from their homes, cramming day and night to get through the exams in the hope of becoming something more than who they are, is such an India story.” She adds.

Mid-Day’s Mayank Shekhar reviewed the movie “This is the India story!” with four out of five rating.

Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times said that 12th Fail is a must-watch to understand the struggles and emotions that UPSC students experience as well as to have insight into our educational system as a whole—a point that Chopra made in 3 Idiots (2009). Rediff.com’s Deepa Gahlot appreciated Vikrant Massey’s performance and stated “If Vikrant Massey does not win a National Award for this film, it will be unjust to an actor who has given a performance of such unalloyed brilliance.” India Today’s Bhavna Agarwal rated four out of five stars and wrote. “Vikrant Massey passes with flying colours on performance sheet”.

Anuj Kumar of The Hindu reviewed film writing “12th Fail film review: Vidhu Vinod Chopra delivers yet another hug of hope that is more earnest than magical.” Sneha Bengani of CNBC TV18 reviewed the movie and wrote “Vikrant Massey powers through this remarkable story of perseverance”. In his review, Dhaval Roy of The Times of India rated 12th Fail with four stars out of five, saying that it is a fantastic movie that is highly recommended. Almost every moment in the 147-minute film leaves you feel astounded and inspired. Kudos to Chopra for ensuring that every character in the movie gets the finest opportunity possible.
